Abstrak: ABSTRACT HESTI AGUSTINA. NIM. 2018.3.6.1.00469 :“EFFECTIVENESS OF USE FLASH CARD MEDIA TO IMPROVE ABILITY READING BEGINNINGS FOR CLASS 1 STUDENTS IN SD NEGERI 1 JADIMULYA KEC. GUNUNGJATI KAB. CIREBON ” This thesis discusses the effectiveness of flash card media for improve the early reading ability of grade 1 students at SD Negeri 1 Jadimulya Cirebon Regency. The study is based on media learning images so that the learning process is innovative and varied so that students do not feel bored in learning. Based on the problem formula in this study, this research aims 1) to find out how well the students' reading ability before using card media in SD Negeri 1 Jadimulya, 2) how good is the ability reading students after applying the card media at SD Negeri 1 Jadimulya, 3) How big is the difference between the reading ability of pre-school students and after SD Negeri 1 Jadimulya. This research is a type of quantitative research using Pre-Experimental Design method with the type of One Group Pretest-Posttest. two the existing variables are variable X (flash card media) and variable Y (students' reading ability), because taking all first grade students with research subjects 21 respondents. The collected data were analyzed using technical analysis of descriptive analysis test data, analysis prerequisite tests include: normality and homogeneity techniques and inferential statistical tests with test techniques paired T-Test with the help of SPSS. After doing the instrument test then the researcher distributes test questions to obtain X and Y data. Students' reading ability before using media learning flash card obtained an average value of 57.14 and after using learning media images the average value of 90.95. Hypothesis test results it is known that the tcount (37.42) > ttable value (2.085) with a sig (2-tailed) value of 0.001 0.05, then in this case it means that it is significant or h0 is rejected, it means that there is significant difference to students' initial reading ability before and after using flash card media learning. It can be concluded that there is a significant difference between use of flash card media to improve reading skills the beginning of grade 1 students at SD Negeri 1 Jadimulya
